If you’re thinking about becoming a medical assistant, you should consider nursing. I know a girl who is a medical assistant who does everything that the nurse does in the doctor’s office, but guess what? She doesn’t get paid like the nurse does. She is returning to school for nursing, now. The medical assistant degree will be like 8 – 12 months and cost over $10K; the associates of nursing degree which you can get at community college last about 2 years and costs about the same. I encourage young people to go to community college as if you change your mind you won’t have to completely start over with taking courses. I hope you make the right decision for you.
I don’t know about Heald Colege, I went to Bryman (now it’s Everest), and it cost me $12,000. Now I am having a hard time finding a job! I believe that once I take the certification exam, it will be easier to find employment. Good luck!
I agree with downinmn. Sweetie, don’t pay out a lot of money to do something that doesn’t pay much. Medical assistants get paid just a little more than certified nurses’ assistants do. The bad thing about that is that classes to become a CNA are usually free. If that’s what you want to do then go for it. If you want to do everything a nurse does, just go all the way. Good luck.
Girl Heald College cost me $28,000 for my Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting. Program took me 2 years. Aint worth it. That school is BULLSHIT, rip off if that is what you call it
