Ok, here there is no dental school close to where I reside.BUT, there is a school for medical & dental assistants and technicians. Would it be safe to get work done at this kind of school?

Yes it is . My sister and her husband and his brother are going right now and it’s about 1/3 of the cost anywhere else.

yes, but depending on where you are, you may have to be referred or be on unemployment etc.

No, since dental assistants can not perform restorative procedures… they can only assist the dentist when they do it.
Edited to say that licensed assistants, if applicable in your state, can work independantly and perform expanded duties, but only under the in-office supervision of a licensed dentist.

I’m in dental school right now so I do know some on this subject. Basically there’s dentists, hygienists, and assistants. Never heard of a “dental technician.” Hygienists usually go to school in dental schools but if you do have access to a school with them, they do pretty much just cleanings and are not licensed to do any sort of filling beyond a sealant (which is probably not what you need). They can take x-rays but they don’t typically even make a diagnosis on if you have cavities or not. Assistants really can’t do much on their own besides take x-rays and assist.
Most dental assisting schools only teach. If the assistants get any experience it is working for dentists in the community. If this technician school actually does do dental work like fillings and all that but has no actual dental students, they would have to have licensed dentists on site and the assistants are just there only to assist. If this is the case, it would probably be a safe place to go. I think you’re out of luck but call the school up and see what services they actually offer.
