Answer: Medical school costs on average around $150,000-300,000, which includes living costs (most of the time) for 4 years.

Undergraduate school could cost somewhere from $100,000-200,000 but this all varies depending on what school you want to go to. I would highly recommend looking into your state school because they give huge benefits in terms of tuition to its residents such as reducing your undergrad tuition to $4,000 a semester (so doing some math, that’s two semesters a year for $8,000 for a total of $32,000 for the 4 years). The same applies for medical school, which would equal $32,000 (undergrad) + $32,000 (medical school) = $64,000 more or less for the full 8 years. This estimates do not include the cost of books and other miscellaneous items. You can also apply for scholarships which would lower your tuition cost even more.

Also, some state schools have even lower tuition rates for instate residents. So depending on your decision, you can go to a private school and rack up tuition bills and loans or you can get the same education at your state school at less than half that cost.

I would look into loans, financial support from family, and scholarships. Getting a part time job makes it harder to focus on school while working at the same time and medical school is competitive to get into, so you need really good grades if you want to get in.
